Default Sound/Heat insulation

So a while back I got to thinking about taking the seats and carpet out of the XJ and insulating the floorboards and firewall to cut down on heat. I did alot of road trips as a kid with a trailer (I've been to 9 province's, the Yukon territory and I think my last count was 46 states) and I'll never forget sitting in the truck with bare feet and feeling how hot the floorboards we're getting. I've noticed the same thing happening to the XJ when wheeling with no surprize as low speeds/high loads will certainly make it worse. Having a full lengthed hot floor board of a SUV will only make interior temperatures higher, so I started researching different options and came across this: http://www.lizardskin.com/pages/ceramic.php

Check out the second video on the video's page.

There are many different products out there but most arn't spray on products like this, which seems to me like it would be the best way to apply insulation.

Thoughts? Other ideas?

I used to use a product called Dynamat. I did a lot of car stereo competition back in the day. This stuff works real well. However if you were going to do the entire floor of the XJ, I think it would be very $.

This product looks like it would be easy to apply and do essentially the same thing.

Good Luck.

I brought this stuff off E-bay a few years ago. It's a cheap alternative to Dynamat.

Seemed to work fine and it really deadned road noise.

Thanks for the links guys, I'll have to check that out. I'm more interested in reducing heat transfer with sound deading as a bonus.
