    Default The Prairies will do

Had planned going further east but events stalled us in Swift Current (where the people were great, thank you), so we decided to focus the remaining road trip "rubbernecking" parts of sw MB and southern SK. We had visited sw SK before - man, the sky, the colour of the fields, the harvest, the big friendly waves from country drivers - again we were not disappointed. And as a bonus we discovered "Peavey" a PA type store with a country twist. (SK pics post 2)

As for MB: green. We started in the parkland (Duck Mtn) and went as far as Morden. Sw MB is huge, the fields appearing productive and fertile with a noticeable dark soil. We camped at 5 Prov Parks and didn't have a single crappy experience with fellow campers. They have a good user pay parks system. Also visited Riding which would could be a zoo for camping but Wasagaming has a nice lake and a bit of a festive, foxy vibe. As a bonus we discovered Brandon 91.5FM "Swap and Sell", "I have a waffle iron, $30 ..." (MB pics post 3)

Just to add, for camping I'm thinking many of the small towns have some kind of "trailer court" in the town park. I'll give the example of Arden, MB which we went thru. It was typical of what we saw in both provinces, with an immaculately mowed park and playing fields, neat as a pin, no garbage, no one around and it had a small area for visitor camping. These folks are proud of where they live. They keep their towns up and welcome visitors.
