    Default My Explorations.

I have a lot of photo's of my explorations of mostly S.W. Alberta and thought this would be good place to share them, I hope you all enjoy.

In no particular order, these are from a trip last winter up to Waiparous falls.

Lunch in the back country right next to the Don Getty Wildland and Banff.

    We love some winter fun.

The weather cleared up on our way out.

These are from almost 2 years ago now right before my friend and his girlfriend drove this '81 BJ-42 across Canada then down through Baja and all the way to the southern tip of South America and back. I was very jealous of their trip.

We did a day trip up to Margaret lake to sort the Cruiser out.

    [IMG][/IMG]

It was raining pretty good one the way in.

    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Lots of water that day.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    The first good climb.

It stopped raining just in time to cook up some chili dogs at Margaret Lake.

Even with all the rain it sure was a nice day!

My friend started a web page for their trip but only has the beginning up so far.

    Nice pics.
What kind of road is that to the lake, straight as an arrow - some kind of seismic survey road ?
and is that Margaret Lake in Ab's Peace River country?
    Thanks,

Thank you, yeah there's a lot of old seismic lines around here and the trails follow a lot of them.
This is Margaret Lake in the Waiparous/Ghost area. It's a nice quick day trip from Calgary.

I installed some new leaf springs on the truck and we left on Canada day for a week camping and exploring off Atlas road west of Dutch creek and north of Coleman along the continental divide.
My camera was acting up so I didn't get nearly as many photos as I would have liked but it was an awesome trip.

    The "before" shots.

    [IMG][/IMG]

All packed and ready to go.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Finally off the pavement and on the 532 about to go over "the Hump" and then south on the Trunk Road.

    [IMG][/IMG]

I didn't get any photos coming over the Hump this time.

    [IMG][/IMG]

At the Dutch creek campground about to head into Atlas road.

    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

A creek crossing where the bridge is out.

    [IMG][/IMG]

We got to our spot off the road without any issues.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Those coolers aren't going to get them selves down!
Yeah I bring my trimmer, lol.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    On our first wood run.

    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

We were all exited to spend a week out here.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Wood's been got and camp is set up.
    Happy Canada Day!

    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

Back at the Trunk road after finding out they installed a quad bridge on Atlas road and you can't get all the way to highway 3 anymore, so we had to take the "highway" into Coleman to refuel and restock on fireworks.

    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

My girlfriend is getting more comfortable using the saw.

    [IMG][/IMG]

After a couple days exploring we spent a HOT day at a secluded creek, we only saw a couple quads all day.

    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

Jello shots and a cold mountain creek are a good way to beat the heat.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Not a much better way to spend a day.

Great photos, love the vehicles, I am partial to the old Toyotas.

The grass can get long if we haven't been out in a while and it's nice to trim it down before setting up.

^ Good idea, I figured you'd have one, though imagined it might be "bushwacking". I just got one for the yard - useful tool still figuring out what it can do.

    Thanks for the pics.
