    Default 2014 Caching Trips

I'm so falling behind on my duties to keep this sub forum flowing but will be adding some juice shortly.

For now I'm off to Penticton for some Camping, exploring, hiking, biking and of course GEOCACHING. The meet up event prior to the Wine Glass Geo-Art is here: http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/G...4-ec3966505f35

Anyone in the Penticton area wish to join us just come on out (sorry for the short notice)

The following weekend I'll be in Kamloops for SPRING STOMP 2014

Again anyone wanting to join in come on out, or for more info post up here and I'll gladly answer any questions.

The other day I was sitting in a parking lot waiting with the kids and these three older 'hiker' types come marching up and start inspecting a lamp post out in the middle of the empty lot.. They're looking all over it and around the bottom and looking up the pole.. I figured out pretty quick they were looking for a cache. Finally one of them lifted the metal base cover and it was right there. Haha, they all did a little dance and then headed off to the next I guess..

Ah yes! The LLPC type! Lame Lamp Post Cache!

They can be found almost everywhere!

Me, I much prefer the caches that actually take you somewhere, peak of a mountain, forest fire look out, old mine site, trapper's cabin those types of places with a great view or a bit of history.

April 19-20 I met up with some other geocachers in Penticton to do some caching along the KVR. Later I spent the rest of he weekend exploring and cleaning up most of the caches from Naramata to Kelowna via the KVR and Chute Lake FSR.

I'll let the pictures tell the story.

I had no idea there was a tunnel here and I was driving over it on the quad trails making my way back to the KVR

Next I'm thinking of continuing up the Myra canyon by mountain bike and possibly a few local geocache trail hikes, who's in???

Thanks for the offer. Though I can't see me participating in the near future - currently my "getting out" is annual vacation and maybe a weekend or two/year. Despite that I'm enjoying this thread.

More broadly, I think the norm for these hobby sites is many more viewers than responders, more trip takers than trip reporters. That doesn't diminish the contributions, rather threads like yours provide enjoyment for those who are unable to travel. More importantly in my view, they provide inspiration to explore and experience the fabulous outdoors we're blessed with in our country.

The pics from Myra canyon serve double duty - first there's the happy guy enjoying time with his girl and a good ride in an fairly easy to reach area. Secondly there's the images of recently burned forest and rebuilt trestles. We are lucky; that engineering wonder was repaired but we're reminded it could have been gone for good. Sometimes deferment can be bittersweet.

So good for you, Jody, for getting out there, for encouraging other to join you and for sharing.

    Cheers,
    David

Yeah Jordy keep it up! We definately love seeing the photos of places travelled and different experiences etc. For every 1 comment there's probably 50+ viewers reading and enjoying!
