Robin and I had been talking about going Snowshoeing for a few weeks and Sunday we decided to head out. I had a pair of my brothers Snowshoes so we only had to rent one pair for Robin.
We packed a small servival back pack, incase anything unforseen happend.
Once we were all suited up and ready to go we headed off towards an old hut in the woods, it was the first ski lodge up on Cypress and was built in the 20's. Was a neat little place and is now a Nordic hut for food and hot drink. Once we got there we headed out and explored a few other trails and made it back to the car intime for the manditory 5pm return.
I have to say it was a great way to spend an afternoon and for $10 well worth it. The snow left a bit to be desired as there is only about 3ft on the ground up there (I have never see such a small snow pack up there this time of year). I have skied there my whole life and its scary to see just how little there is.
Next time out I think we are going to try for the Peak that they have a trail too.
I would highly recomend snowshoeing as a great way to get out for a great work out and a relaxing way to enjoy the wilderness. We passed quite a few familys that looked like they were having a blast.
