Here's a quick review of one of my favorite tools for many years now.
I bought my Makita 5" Angle Grinder quite likely back around 1993. It is still going strong and hasn't missed a beat. Got it from House of Tools back when they were on Main street near 1st Ave in Vancouver!
This grinder has lowered countless cars via the old re&re coil spring and cut it down... it actually cut the stock springs on my 1978 VW Scirocco down to the right size in preparation for the 1996 local Autocross scene where I won the BC Regional D/SS class undefeated in that cut spring Scirocco. (of course there were other suspension enhancements, not just cut springs)... so for all you guys who say cut springs are bad.... I say pppssshhhaaa.. to you! ;)
Anyhow... I have put that grinder to the test many many times and now that I'm into the 4x4 scene, it's been used more than ever. Easily gone though several hundred grinding discs without any service or repairs of any kind.
So.... if you're looking to buy an angle grinder, the 5" Makita is my strong recommendation. I got it on sale back then for $119, so the prices really haven't gone up much since then. Likely around $130-160 from what I've seen when I run past one in the stores.

And a photo of what it would look like new!

So there is your first tool review/recommendation!
