So I have been wanting a Snorkle for the Jeep for a while now. I want a pre- filter, not interested in water crossing etc... just for dust separation. Anyway I have been looking at different ones and this one really caught my eye on the other forum. Tell me all what do you think???? Should I make one???? I could use a toilet for a pre-filter :lol:

I mean really!!!!!! Some people! This guy can afford to drive a Rubicon but builds this and chops up his Jeep? What was he thinking??? I mean a AEV snorkle is only like $350.00 US :eek:

I was just about to start flaming you for wanting that.... then caught the gist of the post.

In reality there is nothing wrong with a home brew snorkle... but if you want to submerg your gas motor, you have a whole other group of problems other than getting your air from up high. I'm not a fan of how the ABS pipe looks, but I follow the cost difference. HOWEVER, a nice quality snorkel looks 10000000x nicer than home brew if you need a snorkel.

Totally agree. I just think this one looks pretty bad as an example of home brew.

There are so many different things to consider when doing this. Vent lines all need to be extended, computer protected or moved, fuse box sealed, etc etc....

I am an advocate of doing things myself. It gives the person something to do for one thing, and it makes you appreciate it a lot more when you can do it yourself.

Example would be my shovel holder I made for my Jeep. Ya I could have bought one for a relatively cheap price, but it gave me great pleasure to make it and it is a pretty functional unit, and I didn't just slap something together to have one. Mine turned out pretty nice in my eyes :)

I just think if you are gonna take the time to make something yourself, TAKE THE TIME :) don't just slap something together and call her done.
