well i have the Dynatrac D-60 with ARB in the rear, 37" tires and a stock front D-30, hmmmm....wonder what the weak link is? I will one day do the front D-60 but until i build my own or buy the $10,000.00 Dynatrac Pro-Rock i need something to help that front axle survive. i am planning the trip up to the yukon in a couple weeks and dont really want to do a 3000km+ round trip on the stock axle shafts and open diff. so i just ordered the Alloy USA Grande 30 kit. it comes with 4340 chromoly 30 spline shaft inners and 27 spline outers, an ARB locker and all new seals and associated parts. i am already as low as i can go for gears (4:88's) in the D-30 so will use those gears, they are only a couple months old anyway. also getting the Superior Axle outer shaft seals to keep mud and crap out of the axle tubes. Alloy USA was recently bought out buy OMIX (i think thats the right name) and they say that they are honoring the 10year no questions asked warranty. the guy on the phone i talked to said "if you break it, we replace it" so i said what about with 37" tires....he said "no problem"...time will tell.

anyway i know all the jokes about polishing a turd and all that, but it's the best i could come up with on only 2 weeks away from the trip.

why the ARB and not just leave the axle open and replace the shafts...? good question. i know locking the 30 will deffinately be the time when i may snap a shaft but i still run the 4 cyl and am pretty light footed so it will be nice to have the front locker if needed. also the price, the locker only added like $500.00 to the total because i already have the compressor for the rear axle.

well that stuff should be waiting at home for me in a couple weeks and i'll post up pics and let you know how the install goes.

I've only heard good things from the Alloy USA shafts. It seems the Yukons are a bit on the hard side and tend to snap often and they don't like to warrenty them. Adding a good stiff front cover is a good idea, it'll help stiffen the diff case and protect your gears/ARB from trail damage too.
That D30 is a HP right? If so then think of me when you decide to swap to a D60, all those parts will fit in my Jeep nicely.:D

already have the front heavy duty diff cover and having a custom truss built and will install it at the same time as the shafts and ARB, and yes it's a HP30. when time comes to replace it i will let you know. but it wont be cheap....:nono:
