Wow... my long weekend has been a blast!!!
Saturday: pull the 159L fuel tank (1/8 full still) in the Suburban and replace the fuel pump. Slammed my head into the bumper and left a good chunk of skin & hair on a bolt head. Spent some time with the family in the late afternoon/evening.
Sunday/Today: Did random shopping with the family. Replaced the fuel pressure regulator in the Suburban (upper intake has to come off to do this). Have to finish it tomorrow.
Monday/Tomorrow: Head to Napa or Lordco and get an upper intake gasket set and also a distributor cap & rotor. Finish up the fuel pressure regulator job. Replace the spark plugs and serpentine belt. Replace the front brakes on the family mini-van. Hope to enjoy what is left of the weekend with the family!!
   ..... how fun eh?

Sounds fun. I spent part of saturday struggling to install the factory bumpers and plastic trim/endcaps on the XJ. Of course the clips, hangers, and whatnot no longer exist on the vehicle, and neither does the metal bodywork where everything originally bolted to, as I opened up the wheelwells. Long story short is that the fender flairs and endcaps are pretty much secured by zip ties, baling wire, and self-tapping sheet metal screws. Farm-style :woot:
Looks pretty nice with a fresh coat of rocker guard all around. I'll try to snap some pics of the XJ and post them up.

Well my weekend started out great! I drove 100km west of Quesnel to Fishpot lake where I commenced to drink beer, then I drank more beer, then followed by a bit of swimming, then more beer :) I think you get the picture.
There is a wildfire buring there right now, about 37km away from the resort we were staying at. The resort has a spot for the Helicopters to stop and fuel up etc... Had quite a bit of activity by forestry while we were there. The forestry ground crews have a supply bunker there wiht hose etc... Chopper came in about 3 times a day for fuel and supplies. Was pretty cool. Got to sit in the chopper, big deal :) Pilot was pretty cool. He was from Austrailia and seemed like he really knew what he was doing. Anyway long story short we had a good time.
Did a little exploring too while out there. There is a forestry lookout at about 5200 ft 5 km from the resort, so you can see the entire area for about 50 miles. Also there is an active valcano out there which produces tons of Black a Red volcanic rock.
Here are few pics of the weekend.

I was dissappointed with it actually. None of the picnic tables were usable (rotten) not very nice cabins. Outhouses were disgusting. Its been under new ownership for the last 5 years and I don't think they have done anything since they got it. I know the old owners and have been there before, it was way nicer then. Nice swimming lake though. And the fishing is supposed to be pretty good.
There are a lot nicer places around here that's for sure. But we made the best of it and that's what camping is all abount :)

I have been a few places around our fabulous province yah. Right now for instance I am in a placed called midwinter. I am about 12 km from the yukon border and I am completely surrounded in muskeg. Chopper dropped us off about an hour ago at this little compressor station and camp. Chopper has to go do other things, like check on the forest fire that has started burning again a few km's away, so I can't get any work done today. But like I said it's a nice little camp, basically a big house.
I was at the volcano when we came out from exploring the Alexander Mackenzie trail. We took abut 6 days to travel from Anahim Lake to Quesnel. We were supposed to go to Vanderhoof but we missed the turn, went back a year later and managed to find the right turn in the old Kluskus village. If we ever manage to get together I could show you some video, as long as there is a "VCR" around. Do you remember those?
Anyway yah, we came out the Kluskus road to Nazko and drove past the volcano. I saw on the news the other day that they evacuated the Kluskus village due to a fire, man mother nature is pissed this year!
later.

Take care!
