Here's a few pics of our past weekend trip up West Harrison FSR to Sloquet Hotsprings. I took an extra day off along with leaving work early on friday to get up to one of my favourite beach camp spots for the night. Then we plan on wandering over to Sloquet.

Leaving friday in the rain.

Did I say it was raining?

We got to our spot while it was still daylight as the roads are real good, but it was just dumping out so no fire.:(
In the morning the sun peaked out for a bit.

On the way off the beach I decided to get my wife to take some pics of the truck going over a log, reminds me of TheOtherSide's good description for tire pressure on this thread: http://www.overlandcanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1519

and didnt notice going over it, I thought I missed it.

Up to here the road was good, from here on it deteriorates a bit, but still good. Last time I was here in my westy I camped right by an old camper that didnt make it up the hill, anyone remember that camper? just a pile of camper remains next to the road, this was as far as I got in my westy, now I could drive the westy past this point. Old log dump site?

Top of the lake nearing Tippella, off in the distance on the right of this pic is a strip of no trees, this is one of many new hydro electric generating schemes that I think are privately funded, tube tunnels run from rivers thru turbines, then some power lines run all along the Sloquet river to link up to the coast.

Abandoned logging camp, last time I was here it was still being used, can a guy buy this place? Lakefront resort with its own airstrip!!

The airstrip, landed many times here.

On the way up the last hill the lift switch for the roof fell off its normal perch and turned on two of the electric actuators while driving, it burnt out one of the motors so had to improvise a little to raise the roof. Next "to do" item, main electric shutoff switch for those actuators!

The springs, our original plan was to stay a night and wander through the Carpenter lakes on our way home but we couldn't leave, it was just too nice so stayed until Monday.

Driving home Monday afternoon saw the snow level getting lower, drove back through Whistler 99 then home.

roof's not fixed , but I ordered another actuator, on sale, 400 lb 18" - $89.
five minutes to replace so its a quick fix.

There isnt much to see inside, its not done , just temp stuff in there until I have some time to work on it.

That's one of our favourite campsites to hit when it's not busy out. We've been up there earliest being March and latest being November, but any time it's quiet is awesome. Glad you did the loop it's a good drive even the Sea to Sky now.

Woow the pools look like they've been clean up since we were there about 3 years back. There was no wooden deck there then.

Did you find the cache by the camping area?

It was clean, the whole area was clean, which is good to see, but we were so busy before we left that I never downloaded any coordinates or clues for any cache's but I looked around a bit any way.

That's a great looking trip! Man that rig sure makes camping in the rain nice I bet.

Gavin and a friend went to those hot springs in August mid week and said it was supper clean and quiet. The camp ground was 1/2 full but every one was there to enjoy the hot springs and not be an idiot. He was very impressed, he wished the road was a bit more challenging tho.

I have been really surprised this year with how many of the camp sites I have been to are so neat and tidy, even Jones lake which is usually a garbage pit, nothing worse than going to a nice spot on a lake and there is garbage everywhere!
When we got there on saturday a large group of people were there, around a dozen or so and maybe early twenties, well they partied hard but were a great bunch and the next day they had every thing cleaned up, even stuff that wasn't theirs was hauled outa there, I was very impressed! left me a bunch of fire wood too!

My rig is nice when cold and rainy, if it wasnt set up that way I would be on these trips by myself, my wife gets cold in the summer when its 30'C !! If I want her to come the camper stays warm, going to some hotsprings makes it easy to talk her into it too!

Neat machine.

What kind of actuators are you using to lift the roof? Web link?

Nice trip, haven't seen good pics like that of the springs. Going to have to get up there once I get my 33's back on and see if i can figure out my overheating problem...
