Now that's pretty well a good set up!!

That looks great! It would however make it hard to sleep in the back of the truck if you were at all claustrophobic.

Would live one of those set ups.

I'm enjoying the notion that for this particular set of modifications, one would be inclined to seek the skillset of a cabinet-maker, rather than a fabricator or welder.

That's pretty sweet. They must go on a lot of trips!

Bye the look of all that MDF it would be heavy as ****. The tent pic looks like it is sagging good allready. Combine that with a rocky road and you got a recipe for broken stuff. Cool setup but I would vote for Aluminum instead, If I had all the money in the world that is :)

That is pretty excessive.....All those cabinets take up allot of space, rubber maid totes work great for me, however I do like the sleeping platform idea, but that one is like 2' from the roof, way to tight. The wheel wells make it pretty tight inside a smaller SUV like a xj or 4runner.

Oh I agree... excessive is a good word. It's way overboard for me and the sleeping platform is pretty high. I can imaging how many times he's pounded his head into the roof when getting up.

You have to be doing lots and lots of trips into the middle of nowhere to need that kind of storage, but I guess it gives a few ideas of what you can do.

My favorite is now the back end is sagging like mad... reminds me of my Jeep... but now I have the opposite while waiting for my springs to settle in the back!

Yes I like that quite a bit too.

Can one not just put a normal tent up there?

Has anyone here used one of those truck top tents? They look awfully exposed to wind. And go darn I'd hate to be moving faster than my brain trying to go pee in the middle of the night.

That is why they overhang to one side or the other. All you gotta do is remember to not leave anything under it. Just hang it out and go :)

P.S. Welcome to the forum!
