The drive is about 20 hours if you were to do it in one push. We broke it up into one really long day and one short one.

Ok so Mike....Axel when we going? :D

Great pictures! I really enjoyed going through them this afternoon. The dry lake beds look like cobble stone streets.

p.s. I also want to do Valley of the Gods wile we are in the area.....ya know its only like 800 miles away.

Thanks for sharing!

How was is crossing the border with all the gear in your truck? Did they pick you apart or just let you through? Its officially been 5 years (Jan 2006) since I've crossed because I just got so sick and tired of dealing with their BS, and considering that I basically used to live in the US due to work I kinda miss being down there. Enjoyed the pics, especially the hiking ones.

Just curious, what sort of high/low air temps were you experiencing?

Just drove across. No BS. It was unseasonably cold. Days were mid 40's to 50's and evenings went down to between 20 and 30 degrees F

I have not had any problems at all as well. The last trip to Oregon we looked like the Clampets. The guy was more interested in were we were camping as he really likes the Oregon cost as well. He even suggested a camp ground there is a winner just need to book next time so we get a spot there.

Yeah, talking to a few friends it sounds like they're finally starting to relax a little. I used to cross sometimes up to a dozen times a week, they all knew me by name, and I was still generally treated like a criminal and I hate that. I guess being in my mid-20s at the time put me in the prime age range for smuggling whatever, but still with no record and nothing flagged on my name it was getting really old in a hurry. The breaking point for me was when they "seized" $75 worth of my canned goods cause they *may* carry mad cow disease or whatever, when they were all marked 'made in USA' on the side. I snapped, and I do admit my mouth got me in to a bit of trouble like usual, but I just haven't been back since. LR

Cool pix Axel, thanks for sharing.

I was there once when I was in my teens, we went through in the middle of summer......ya it was hot. IIRC, it was close to 110F.
