Last minute trip to Death Valley NP.

Going to leave on the 26th and back on the 3rd. 5 days in the park. Anyone interested in tagging along?

id be down...but i have a job with no holidays allowed in dec.. but ill have 7 weeks vacation starting next year if anyone wants to plan something...a little less last minute :poke:

have fun axel..and take lotsa pics! whats your route down? the DV winds will be a good test for your RTT.

Too bad you can't make it Sonny. Ya we just decided we were going this morning.

Ya I've had the RTT in some decent winds and it is remarkably stable although one night a corner of the tent was flapping so bad sleep was impossible. Maybe I'll take the Mountain 25 as a backup.

We'll probably take I5 to where it meets with 395 in Oregon. Take that to RENO. Heather already told me we have to stop at the the Patagonia outlet in Reno:D Then Head south to Bishop and DV from there.

I've done the drive to Bishop many times for climbing trips. I'll probably camp outside of Reno the first night. Been wanting to do this trip for awhile and the Hundy is the perfect vehicle for it.

ahh! should be good time wish i could do it! buy a sally anne teakettle and slap an OLC sticker on it to leave at teakettle junction if you go there :D:olc:

HAHA I hope that was not aimed at me? I get two weeks a year (had 3 almost 4 until they decided to knock us all back and start over:mad2:).

only applies if you're able to say... hmm we gots nothing on the go... honey get your bags packed... ROAD TRIP! kinda like Axel LOL. I really wish I could head out. there actually mention of another DV trip in the works from some of the CC'ers. 2 went last year... there's a detailled write up on the CC forum.

kinda hard to plan these kinda trips with 3 lil ones. since destinations and group attendies are kid dependant. never really get a chance to road trip with just the wifey. but I've
got 7 weeks next year, and the wifey is on EI, so there will for sure be
some OLing going on. both with an without the yoots.

Well, sitting in a Best Western just outside Reno. Not bad. 1300km today! Going to take our time getting to DV tomorrow. Hit some Hot Springs on the way.:party:

Nice!! That's some serious driving! We did 1600kms in one day one time... not again...it's crazy draining!
