I'm a huge list guy... I make lists for many things... one of them being a trip list for when I head out for a day or multi-day trip. I thought I'd share my list and a couple of others I ran into on the Expedition Portal.
If you have a list you wish to share... e-mail it to me and I'll post it up here also...
triplist1.xls (http://www.overlandcanada.com/net/triplists/triplist1.xls)
triplist2.doc (http://www.overlandcanada.com/net/triplists/triplist2.doc)
triplist3.doc (http://www.overlandcanada.com/net/triplists/triplist3.doc)
Take them and make them your own if you don't have a list...

Sweet lists Kelly, very helpful.
:4x4:
Never cesses to amaze me that people do not include a pepper spray or a trusty old 12 gauge.

Pepper spray is to make you taste better for the Bears. Give me Ruger#1 375 H&H any day. Now that is bear medicine :)
Great lists Kelly. Anyone ever tell you? You are way to effecient. :)

Or a good ol' SKS.. nothing like pounding some fast ammo down range at a charging bear :hunter: Surprised more guys don't consider them due to their semi-auto abilities (and you can get some cool green gun parts for them).
Lists are good. Everyone has their own methods of loading and getting there, but its always a good thing being able to compare because you never know what someone else will think of that could come in handy on the open trail. LR

How many rounds can you fire trough it before something breaks or jams tho? I have fired an SKS once and it was a POS, fired two rounds and it was jammed and had to go to a gun smith to un-jam it. Cool guns but I do not know if there reliable enough for bear/critter deference.

5 legally, a gun is a gun - if you treat it like crap it'll work like crap. Simple as that, can happen with a $5000 Steyr as well. Considering that they're loosely based on an AK-47, one of the hardiest rifles on the planet, they can't be that bad. LR

Good point, it was not my gun and I have no idea how well it was maintained. It had all the fiber add on's and a pistol grip with a cheap scope. Looked like an AK-47 at first glance.
Need to get my PAL then I can start looking at them a bit closer. Is the ammo still easy to get I know for a bit there it was hard to come by. I still think my first purchase will be a 870 express tactical.
Totally derailed this thread now :D
May start another thread for firearms....

..back on subject, but I carry about 75% of it in my truck daily. The other minor stuff I keep on hand in the house to go in a hurry. Its amazing how much of it comes in handy at a moments notice, even in town. Most everyone lives a far more normal life than me, but I'm terribly notorious for doing crazy stuff like doing week long trips at a moments notice, before I can load up from home. Everyone can always use a spare change of clothes, a spare warm/rain jacket, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, sleeping bag if caught in a freak storm, you name it.
Kind of a side note, but you wouldn't believe the amount of people I've had to bail out in road closures due to accidents or landslides, sometimes during the winter and sometimes not. Its really startling how few people run prepared, even those who know they have medical conditions like diabetes. Had a bad one up the top of 10 Mile Hill east of Golden, 28 hrs closed and I ended up feeding about a dozen people (I know how the good folks in the bible story felt like feeding 5000 people with 2 fish), several diabetics and they didn't even have their meds with them. Like anything else, carrying emergency gear isn't just about ourselves, its about being able to help someone else out who needs it. LR
