Well here is my Supra, I got this car 10 years ago now.
The car is a 1989 Turbo Targa 5spd.
Its been though a ton of changes over the years. This last 5 years has been the biggest changes. I did a complete strip of the car and all the body work got done. I also got and engine out of a later 93+ twin turbo Supra. I also went though and completely rebuilt that engine. Did a Single turbo swap and full standalone fuel management. Once I got the car back on the road it was short lived I had a lot of problems with the wiring and the way the car ran. I ended up cracking the ring lands off of two pistons at only 15psi. Looks like now that it was a bad computer, the computer had a lot of timing scatter at higher RPM seeing up to 30-40deg timing at 15psi (was set to 15deg at that boost).
So now today, well the engine got completely rebuilt (2nd time) in my garage with the help of my good friend Bill. He is the only reason why I still have this car and have it were it is today. I have also sold the old management system and got a new rather unknown system out of AUS. The ViPEC (new management) has proven to be awesome, the car runs better than it ever has since I started all this.
We (Bill and I) took it to the dyno last week to make sure we had all our stuff in order and to get a good base tune done on it. We got all the load cell tuning done and started getting into boost tuning. We had the limiter on the Dyno set to 5500rpm and that turned out to be a good thing. At 5500 RPM we had a fuel flow problem pressure was falling from 60psi to 20psi in about 200rpm. Needless to say it could have been a very bad night if we had not cough it. So in the end we ended up calling it a night as we figured that in the 5 years of work and trouble shooting my filter had got plugged up. I changed it on Saturday and sure enough it was totally plugged.
We are just working on the last few details of the car now before we go back to finish the tuning. I hope to have the extra two fuel pumps and water/ meth injection installed in the next 3-4 weeks and get her run out on the dyno. We are going for 600+ whp on a pump gas water/meth setup.
On Friday we Dynoed a max of 368whp and 364ft/lbs backing out at 5500rpm un-tuned and at 11psi. That is very impressive for this engine as it makes peak power in the 6500-7500rpm range. I have no doubt that at my lowest boost setting it will be in the 400whp range when tuned. max boost is going to be set at 28psi :D.
I will update this thread as I go.
Pics will be loaded at some point tomorrow.
